Jay’s story is a powerful example of the life-changing impact of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. After being released from a football academy at 16, Jay’s dream of being a professional footballer was shattered, leaving him struggling with mental health issues and homelessness. “When I was released, it crushed me. I didn’t know how to feel good. I ended up homeless for two months,” Jay shared.
At 18, everything changed when he joined a collaborative project between the Foundation and Street Soccer Foundation. “The 10-week programme wasn’t just about football – it built my confidence, resilience, and life skills. It got me back on my feet and helped me realise there’s life outside of football.” Today, Jay works as a coach with the Foundation, using his experience to inspire and support others. His advice? “Never give up. Trust in opportunities and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.”

Volunteer for Us
Volunteering with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is a great way to make a positive impact while being part of something special.
We don’t have any current volunteer opportunities, but we’d love you to register your interest for future roles. From mentoring young people and supporting coaching sessions to assisting at events and community programmes, there are plenty of ways to get involved when opportunities arise.
Our volunteers are vital to what we do, and your time and energy can truly make a difference.
