Player Season Stats

What a story for Djed Spence.

Having experienced a tough start to his Spurs career after joining us from Middlesbrough in July, 2022, Djed not only broke into the team, but became an integral part of the squad in 2024/25 - and that amazing career trajectory rise continued in August, 2025 with a new deal and first senior England call.

The numbers illustrate perfectly Djed's turn around - he'd made six appearances up to the start of 2024/25 but by the end of the campaign, he was up to 41 in all competitions, including coming off the bench to help us land the UEFA Europa League against Manchester United in May.

A dynamic full-back who can play either side of the defence - a player who relishes one-to-one combat with wingers - Djed also scored his first goals for us in 2024/25, his first a late equaliser against Coventry City in the third round of League Cup - a tie we won and went on to reach the semi-finals of the competition.

The right-back began his youth career at Fulham before joining Middlesbrough as a 17-year-old in July, 2018. Initially linking up with Boro’s Under-23 squad, he later broke into their first team, making his professional league debut against Charlton in December, 2019, before scoring his first professional goal 19 days later against Huddersfield – shortly after, he was named the EFL Young Player of the Month.

He joined Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan in 2021/22 and enjoyed a highly successful spell, making 46 appearances and scoring three goals, as he played a key role in helping the club secure promotion to the Premier League through the Championship play-offs.

An outstanding season at the City Ground saw Djed scoop numerous personal awards, including a hat-trick of honours after impressive performances in March: the EFL Championship Player of the Month, EFL Championship Goal of the Month and, for the second time in his career, the EFL Young Player of the Month.

Further recognition came at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, as he was named in the EFL Championship Team of the Season and the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

Following six appearances for us in all competitions during the first half of the 2022/23 season, Djed joined French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais on loan in January, 2023, for the remainder of that campaign.

In August, 2023, he joined Leeds United on loan, making seven appearances for them before returning to us in January, 2024. Later that month, he joined Genoa on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

On the international stage, Djed was named in the England Under-21 squad for the first time in March, 2022, making his debut against Albania. His most recent call-up came in May, 2022, helping the Young Lions secure their place at next year’s UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
