New signing Cathinka Tandberg says that it’s a ‘dream come true’ to complete a move to Spurs – a dream that started as a 10-year-old in the stands at White Hart Lane.

Joining us from Hammarby on a permanent transfer, where she scored 19 goals in 37 appearances for the Swedish side, the move to north London has been a long time coming for the proven goalscorer.

Following the Club in the Premier League when she was younger, her dad took her to one of our Europa League games at White Hart Lane in 2014, a moment that made her fall in love with the Club and, 11 years later, she will now be stepping out as a Spurs player.

An imposing attacker in Norway and Sweden’s top leagues, plus the UEFA Women’s Champions League, ‘Tinka’ now embarks on an exciting new journey in north London and she’s ready to establish herself in one of the best leagues in the world.

“It’s surreal! I’m really happy and honoured to join this amazing club,” she smiled. “When I heard Spurs [was interested], for me, it was an easy choice. I said ‘I don’t want anything else than Spurs’!

“I’ve always been a fan, watching Spurs play when I was young and I always followed the Premier League, so this is like a dream come true to come here. So, since the first time I heard about them, I have wanted this.

“It has been a dream since I started playing football, to play in this league. It’s one of the best in the world and some of the best players are currently playing here. I feel this is the right step for me in my career.

When reflecting on her last visit to N17, she explained: “My dad took us to London and we went to see (Spurs) play. It was such a good experience, the fans and everything was so big. I told my dad ‘I’m going to play here one day’.”

Having crossed paths with our new Head Coach Martin Ho in Norway, she explained how much of an impact he made to make the move to England. She told us: “I knew him from before, because he was obviously coaching in the Norwegian league, so I have met him before.

It’s one of the best in the world and some of the best players are currently playing here. I feel this is the right step for me in my career.

“He has been so welcoming, funny and easy to talk to, but he also plays very nice football, a style that fits me very well. I’m just really excited to get to play for him and this Club.”

With the Barclays Women’s Super League campaign just around the corner, which kicks off on Sunday against West Ham United, Tinka will have to quickly settle into her new surroundings, but she explained that a few familiar faces will make the process easier.

“I have played against some of them in the Swedish league, I have played with Olga [Ahtinen] in Linkoping and I’m friends with Matilda [Vinberg], so I know some of them,” she added.

“It’s easy when you have someone you know from before and I have been told it’s a very nice group.”

When asked what she is most looking forward too when wearing the Lilywhite shirt, she said: “Playing in front of the fans and at the stadium, hopefully at the big stadium, and just playing in these beautiful kits.”
