Spurs stories | NFL star Kyle Hamilton: “It’s always been Spurs for me”

Spurs fan and NFL star Kyle Hamilton was back at Hotspur Way recently, 18 months after his last visit to our training facility for a business trip.

That was back in October 2023 when Hamilton and his side, the Baltimore Ravens, turned Hotspur Way into their training base ahead of their AFC clash with the Tennessee Titans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, this time Kyle’s visit was very much for pleasure as the Ravens’ safety – a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft – returned to the UK as a tourist and took the opportunity to come back to our world-class facility to have a proper look around.

“We practiced here a few times when we were in London a couple of years ago, it was a little hectic on that occasion so it’s really nice of the Spurs family to have us out today,” explained Kyle, who was visiting with his fiancé Reese Damm - the couple having just recently announced their engagement.

“We’ve walked around a bit and I have to say, I love it here. It’s beautiful, the pitches look great and I’m almost regretting my choice of sport!”

Having been selected by the Ravens as the 14th overall pick in the 2022 draft, 24-year-old Kyle has developed into one of the most formidable safeties in the NFL. But Spurs are very much part of his sporting make-up, not least because of his admiration for our former skipper Heung-Min Son due to Kyle’s Korean heritage.

“I was a FIFA addict growing up and I would always play as Spurs with the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Kyle Walker and Harry Kane - I’d always try to get them on my Ultimate Team! I’m also half-Korean so that naturally worked out as well with Sonny. There are a couple of ties there and so, since I was about 12 or 13, it’s always been Tottenham for me.

“I haven’t seen the team play at the stadium yet, it’s kind of difficult with the way the seasons run for both sports but I need to get out here early in March or April one year, I’d love to get to a game here.”

Of course, Kyle has been to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he featured for the Ravens in their 24-16 win over Tennessee in 2023 - however that was a bittersweet memory for him.

“The stadium is beautiful and being a Spurs fan just boosted the experience even more. Unfortunately though, I got ejected from the game so it was a short-lived dream for me!

“But it was awesome to be here in London and to be a part of a team that played at the stadium. Although we were the away team, it felt like a home game for us. It’s crazy, a city like Baltimore - which isn’t the biggest - has such a good fanbase and that’s a credit to the foundation that’s been laid there from the players and coaches before me. It’s a pleasure to be a part of the organisation.”
