Celebrating Black History Month

Tue 30 September 2025, 09:00|Tottenham Hotspur

The Club and our Foundation will proudly be celebrating Black History Month with activities in the local community throughout October.

The Foundation has already been bringing a focus to black history during education activities in local schools, with pupils on its delivery of Premier League Primary Stars to take part in a poetry competition later this week.

That focus will transfer from the classroom to football and multi-sports camps during October half-term, where coaches will run anti-racism and allyship workshops.

Philip Rudling, Foundation head of programmes, said: “We work in communities where over 180 languages are spoken, so education around diversity and inclusion is at the heart of everything we do.

“The theme of this Black History Month, Standing Firm in Power and Pride, gives us a great opportunity to further explore important topics such as resilience, strength and unity, and we look forward to doing this with targeted activities in October.”

Premier League Primary Stars is a cornerstone of the Foundation’s work, having benefited 7,000 children across almost 100 schools in the last four years. It uses the appeal of football to help educate pupils and encourage positive social change.

Meanwhile, the Foundation continues to engage hundreds of young people during school holidays, working with partners to provide informative workshops as part of its activity camps.

In addition to this month’s community activities, the Club will host an educational film screening and themed lunch for staff, reflecting on the contributions of black figures in football.

The legacy of trailblazers in the sport has been a central part of how the Club has marked Black History Month, with Ledley King attending Our Little Hour, a play celebrating Walter Tull, last year.

It charts the life of the Football League’s first black outfield player, who played for us between 1909 and 1910. The play was a sell-out success and returns to Greenwich Theatre in early 2026.
