Endacott on Women's Under-21s campaign: “A season full of learning"

It has been a season full of progress for our Women’s Under-21s and Mia Endacott certainly flourished in her first year in Lilywhite.

The young forward joined our Academy set-up in the summer after a hugely successful 2023/24 campaign with Plymouth Argyle in the FA Women’s National League Division One South East.

Featuring at senior level at the age of 16 years old, Mia went on to make 15 appearances for the Pilgrims, winning their Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season, before making the switch to north London last summer.

After an impressive campaign in our colours – contributing 21 goal involvements in 29 games – she felt the year in Academy football has been hugely beneficial for her development.

Moving away from home was always going to be hard, but the girls and coaches made it a really transition for me and I feel I have definitely grown as a player.

“It has definitely been a season full of highs and lows but, overall, it has been really positive, a season full of learnings and development,” Mia told us, looking back at the term.

“At the beginning of the season, we all said it was quite a slow start but if you look at our results and our cup run for instance, we definitely improved. There was a lot of learning and development, and I think the team has gelled very well over the past season.

“Moving away from home was always going to be hard but, I think, the girls and coaches made it a really transition for me and I feel I have definitely grown as a player and as a person while being at the Club.”

“At first, it was hard because, for me, the PGA game is more technical and tactical whereas the Women’s was more of a physical side, so it definitely wasn’t easy at first but I did pick it up and I felt I have improved in those areas of my game.”

Asked about the Under-21s journey in the Capital Cup, she added: “Playing senior opposition is very different from the PGA, it’s very much a physical game, so it was beneficial for the team and our results matched how we played. I think we got unlucky in the semi-final but, overall, it was a good cup run.”

The former Plymouth star racked up some remarkable numbers for the Under-21s.

Following a goal and an assist in the final game of the season – a 3-0 win over London City Lionesses – Mia completed the campaign with 21 goal involvements (nine goals and 12 assists) – eight more assists than anyone else in the squad.

“That’s always the aim, stats are always nice to get,” she said, when asked about her goal contributions.

“I think, for me, personally it was always about coming here and trying to get those stats in the PGA, so that was positive.  When we come in for pre-season, I always set goals out for the middle part of the season and then the end of the season, so it’s always nice to achieve those.

“For me, personally, I do prefer an assist. Obviously being a winger, crossing is really important, so the assists do mean more.”
