Vicario up for Premier League Save of the Season award

Wed 28 May 2025, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Guglielmo Vicario has been shortlisted for the Premier League's Save of the Season prize.

Having won the April edition of the monthly edition of the award for his incredible one-handed stop to deny Chelsea's Jadon Sancho in our April trip to Stamford Bridge, the goalkeeper has now been nominated for the seasonal title.

Coming in our narrow 1-0 defeat in west London last month, the shot stopper pulled off a quite breathtaking save just before the break to keep the deficit to one.

On the stroke of half-time, the goalkeeper was primed and ready as the ball dropped to Sancho around 10 yards out from goal. The winger took one touch before firing fiercely towards goal but Vicario was alive and managed to stretch his right hand out, making a solid enough connection to turn the ball over the crossbar.

An arrival for Empoli in July, 2023, and now a European champion with the Club, our number one has continually shown his impressive ability as a shot stopper.

On countless occasions since leaving his homeland for north London, Vic has been nominated for the monthly edition of the Save of the Month award but, until last month, had never taken the honour. However, now, after winning the monthly prize for April, he has been recognised for the seasonal prize for the first time.

For the title, Vic faces competition from the following goalkeepers: Arsenal's David Raya, Manchester United's  André Onana, Chelsea's Robert Sanchez, Aston Villa's Emiliano Martínez, Newcastle United's Martin Dúbravka and AFC Bournemouth's Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Fans can show their support for Vic by voting for him. Voting is now open and will close on Friday 30 May at 6pm.
