Cristian Romero has been honoured with the title of UEFA Europa League Player of the Season.
Our captain for the final four crucial matches of our run to glory, Cuti was a colossus at the back for us, leading us from defence to victory.
In total, he played in just seven of our 15 matches in the competition but his impact was just that immense in those matches, especially in the knockout stages, that the UEFA Technical Observer Group have bestowed the title of Player of the Season on him.
He has also been named in the UEFA Europa League Team of the season alongside Pedro Porro, Guglielmo Vicario and Dominic Solanke.

An initial loan arrival in 2021 before later signing permanently, the front-footed defender played just one of our League Phase matches as he captained us to a 2-1 victory over Ferencvaros on Matchday 2. Cristian was then an unused substitute in our home win over AZ Alkmaar before missing the rest of the League Phase through injury.
He returned though for the knockout stages and played in each game bar our 1-0 round of 16 first leg defeat at AZ, where he, alongside Micky van de Ven, returned to the squad for the first time in almost four months.
Starting each and every minute after that, the Argentine was imperious and bullish in his approach. A hardened leader at the back who was willing to do everything to take us to victory.
And that showed more than ever in the Bilbao final with the defender forcing us over the line in every action before he was named Player of the Match.
Congratulations, Cristian. An incredible achievement, and not bad work for your debut Europa League campaign!
