Kevin Danso has sustained a hamstring injury that rules him out of Thursday night's UEFA Europa League last 16 return leg with AZ Alkmaar, revealed Ange Postecoglou.
The centre-back, who joined on loan from French side RC Lens on 2 February, has played almost every minute since his arrival and has been a valuable addition during a sustained period whilst fellow defenders Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies recovered from their respective injuries.
Kevin featured alongside both the returning 'Cuti', who started for the first time since 8 December, and Micky, who replaced the Argentine on 61 minutes, as he put in a full shift in Sunday's 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League last time out.
However, the 26-year-old injured his hamstring against the Cherries which means he will miss tomorrow's crucial second leg with Dutch side AZ as we bid to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.
"Kevin got a hamstring injury in the last game so he's out," disclosed our Head Coach, speaking in his press conference on Wednesday (12 March) afternoon.
When asked about a timeframe on the Austrian's setback, Ange added: "It's hard to say at the moment. He felt it right at the end of the game so we'll see.
"We have the international break which helps us and Kevin looks after himself, he's a pretty good athlete, so we'll give him every chance to get back. We'll have to let it settle down a bit before we get some clarity but he'll be pushing."
Elsewhere, Ange provided a positive team news update on defender Ben ahead of the European encounter.
