Tottenham talent takes centre stage in the West End

Local Tottenham talent took to the stage at one of London West End’s grandest theatres for the culmination of a Club-funded community performing arts programme.

‘West End in Tottenham’ is a unique partnership between Tottenham Hotspur and ATG Entertainment (ATG) bringing weekly arts sessions to the London Borough of Haringey. The sessions are delivered with funding from the Club for young people aged 10-17 and for a community theatre group for over-18s.

Through the programme, students delivered a performance of ‘Chronicles of Tottenham: A Time-Travelling Adventure’ to celebrate the area’s arts and culture scene. The play tells the story of a group of schoolchildren who go back in time and take a journey through the history of the area, including the founding of Tottenham Hotspur.

The performance took place at one of the most iconic venues in London’s West End, the Lyceum Theatre, known for being the home of The Lion King musical.

Club representatives, including Ledley King, joined local dignitaries and families of participants to watch the performance - Ledley had previously attended one of the group’s rehearsals at Lancasterian Primary School.

Ledley said: “It is an amazing experience for the kids, what an opportunity to come to London’s West End and perform in such a great theatre. It would have been nerve wracking, but they have put in a lot of work – I had the opportunity to go down to the school and see how much they had been rehearsing for the show. It was fantastic to see it all come together on the night – I thought it was excellent.”

Conor Hunt, Senior Creative Learning Manager for ATG Entertainment, added: “West End in Tottenham has gone through a real journey of recruitment – from schools, community organisations, youth organisations, community football clubs, choirs. It wasn’t about who had experience of being a performer, it was about who had a story to tell about where they’re from – and do they want the opportunity to tell it. The breadth of talent and storytellers that we found has been amazing.

“Through the partnership between ourselves and the football club, we have been able to remove access barriers to spaces like the Stadium and theatres – being able to put their voices front and centre, which has been incredible.

“I can’t have imagined doing this with any other football club – I think it’s amazing that Tottenham Hotspur as a club are so invested in their local community, and our creative learning team are so invested in making sure that local voices are at the heart – we found a perfect partnership with the club in that.”

West End in Tottenham is part of Tottenham Hotspur’s drive to provide life-changing opportunities for people in our area – creating a sport, leisure and entertainment destination around our Stadium and embracing the arts and culture. Haringey has been named the London Borough of Culture for 2027.

A recent study by EY found that, through increased events and activities around our Stadium, the Club contributes an additional £344m GVA to the area, including £296m in Haringey alone, with 4,000 jobs created for local people.
