Amanda Nildén played her part for Sweden as they qualified for the quarter-final of the Euro 2025 after a 3-0 win over Poland on Tuesday evening.
Named in the starting XI in Luzern, the full-back put in a solid shift in her first minutes of the tournament as she completed 45 minutes before making way at the break, with the result ensuring Sweden’s place in the last eight of the competition.
Knowing a victory would be enough for Swedes to advance before kick-off, Stina Blackstenius fired them into a 28th-minute lead before, seven minutes into the second half, Kosovare Asllani doubled their advantage. Substitute Lina Hurtig headed home the final goal of the contest in the 78th-minute to earn back-to-back wins in the competition.
Germany have also joined Sweden in progressing from Group C after a 2-1 win over Denmark earlier in the day.
Currently sitting top of the group, Peter Gerhardsson’s side will only need a point when they face Germany on Saturday 12 July (8pm) to go through as group winners.
Amanda’s fellow team-mate Lize Kop (Netherlands) can also book their spot in the last eight if they beat England on Wednesday 9 July (5pm UK).
