Under-18s link up with Supporters’ Clubs in Cork

Our Under-18s spent time meeting members of our Official Supporters’ Clubs during their visit to Cork in Ireland this week.

Our young squad travelled across the water for a five-day pre-season training camp, which included a friendly against Cork City Under-19s on Wednesday where we came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2.

The game was held at the idyllic Fota Island resort where the squad spent the week training and, although it was a lower-profile affair than a similar fixture in Cork two years ago, a number of members of our Cork Spurs and Youghal Spurs Supporters’ Clubs were on hand to witness the action.

Following the match, the players stopped to sign autographs and take photos with delighted young fans in attendance before heading back to the hotel for a specially-arranged talk with Cork Spurs chairman Niall O’Keefe about the global reach of the Club and the great lengths fans from overseas go to in order to support us.

Following the event, Niall and some of his fellow Cork Spurs members presented a commemorative plaque to our captain for the game, Northern Ireland youth international George Feeney, to mark the Club’s visit to their city. In return, on behalf of the squad, George presented Niall with an official Club pennant, signed by all of the players on the trip.

“It’s such an honour for us to have Tottenham Hotspur in Cork,” said Niall. “It was great for the kids here today to see the game. They’re the Spurs fans of the future and to have a chance to meet the newest group of players coming through was amazing. You wonder if there’s another Mikey Moore or another Damola Ajayi in this group – two players who we met on this visit two years ago. Hopefully there will be.”
