Djed Spence has been named in the England National Team squad for the first time.
Having appeared for the Under-21 side seven times between 2022 and 2023, Djed's impressive form for us since the turn of the year has seen the 25-year-old rewarded with a place in Thomas Tuchel's latest squad.
Having endured a tumultuous first few years in N17, the full-back ceased an opportunity last season and hasn't looked back, consistently producing stirring performances while he has missed just five of our games in all competitions since he made his full Premier League debut in a 5-0 win over Southampton in December, 2024.
His call up comes a matter of weeks after he signed a new long-term contract with the Club.
After Saturday's Premier League clash with AFC Bournemouth, he'll link up with the Three Lions as they take on two FIFA World Cup qualifiers next week - a clash with Andorra at Villa Park on Saturday 6 September (5pm UK) and before a trip to face Serbia on Tuesday 9 September (7.45pm).
England currently top their qualifying group having won each of their three opening games.
Thomas Frank said, "We have a new English national team player in Djed Spence. Wow, how good is that? He truly deserves it. It's been a great journey, just turning 25 this year, to be called up - I don't think many saw that coming. He had a top pre-season, played well in the last three games, I'm so happy for him.
"Djed is a fantastic example for a lot of players. Anything is possible if you are resilient and can get past the tough points in life. It is a big credit to him. Those stories we should appreciate and be happy for."
England boss, Thomas Tuchel said, "He had a very good end to the season with Tottenham and a very good start of the season. He was impressive against Paris in the European Super Cup final. He came up against a lot of quality on his side, against a lot of speed, he handled it very impressively and kept on going with Tottenham in the Premier League. He can play both sides, he plays very intensely, he is in shape and he deserves to be called up."
Congratulations, Djed!
