Bissouma and Mali through to last eight of AFCON

Yves Bissouma's Mali booked their place in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals with a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso on Tuesday evening.

Taking on their southern-bordering nation in the round of 16, Mali took the lead within the first three minutes as Bayer Leverkuse's Edmond Tapsoba sent the ball into his own net. They then doubled their advantage right at the start of the second period as Auxerre forward Lassine Sinayoko scored his third in four matches at this year's AFCON.

Aston Villa's Bertrand Traoré pulled a goal back with 20 minutes to play as they fought to get back on terms but Les Aigles held on to book a quarter-final berth for the first time sin e 2013.

Yves was an unused substitute for the game.
