Ellie Brazil: “I’m just so excited to be back!”

Wed 15 November 2023, 22:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Ellie Brazil couldn’t keep the smile off her face after returning to action this week following more than a year on the sidelines.

Laid low by an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in our match against Manchester City in October, 2022, the striker returned to the matchday squad for the for the first time in our Women’s Super League clash with Everton on 5 November, remaining an unused substitute, before stepping off the bench in the closing stages of Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool to mark her on-pitch comeback as we chased a late winner.

Reflecting on her journey back to fitness, Ellie said maintaining a positive mentality was key.

“It feels great – it was lovely to be part of the squad last week against Everton, I was ready and now I’m just so excited to be back on the pitch this week,” she smiled.

“I think I’ve been earning the gaffer’s trust, just working hard and I’ve enjoyed being back in the team training with everyone.

“I think when you’re out for that long, it’s just a matter of having a smile on your face every day. I’m doing what I love and I was just waiting for this moment. It's a great team to be part of right now.

“I’m trying not to big it up in my head to much but it was nice to be back.”

We return to WSL action away to Leicester City on Sunday (kick-off 3pm UK).
