Harry Kane couldn’t hide his disappointment as we bowed out of the UEFA Champions League against Milan on Wednesday evening.

It ended 0-0 in the Round of 16, second leg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the Italians progressing 1-0 on aggregate, a tie of few clear-cut chances decided by Brahim Diaz’s early goal in the first leg at the San Siro on 14 February.

Harry almost found the breakthrough late on, guiding a header from Heung-Min Son’s free-kick towards goal, but Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan made a fine save low down to his right. It wasn’t to be.

The top four is the only thing we can play for, we did it last year with a strong finish at the end of the season so we have to keep fighting

Here’s what he had to say to SPURSPLAY...

Harry Kane

“We gave it everything, left all our energy and heart out on the pitch and it wasn’t enough. Over the two legs, if we’re brutally honest, I don’t think we can say we deserved to win. Both games were even, and it came down to a decisive goal. I don’t think we were at our best, we had some moments in the game when we needed to be better, good positions on the pitch where maybe other teams would punish you but we’re not quite doing that to the opposition at the moment. We’ve got to be more effective especially in the opposition’s final third because we’re getting into good positions and we’re just not taking control of that. Now we are here again against Forest (Saturday, 3pm) and hopefully we can score a couple of goals and have a big push for the rest of the season. We have no option. It’s been a tough week for everyone, the fans especially, and we just need to push on now.  The top four is the only thing we can play for, we did it last year with a strong finish at the end of the season so we have to keep fighting and see where we can go.”
