Giovani Lo Celso returned to the Argentina national team with a bang as he provided the assist for Lionel Messi's 100th international strike as La Albiceleste ran out 7-0 winners over Curacao in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Having unfortunately missed out on Argentina's World Cup glory in December after picking up a hamstring injury in late October, Gio, who is currently on loan at Villarreal, returned to his nation's fold this month and starred when pulling back on the light blue and white-striped shirts.
Of course, Lionel Messi took the plaudits in the rout, scoring a hat-trick in the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades, which saw him reach a century of goals for Argentina, becoming just the third player in history to score 100 international goals (Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo (122) and Iran's Ali Daei (109) have also reached the milestone), but it was Gio that created the first, firing a low pass into the feet of Messi from range before the seven times Ballon d'Or winner picked out the corner of the net.
Our number 18 then provided another assist for Messi, creating the forward's third goal as clipped a ball over the top of the defence for the Paris Saint Germain man to run onto and finish.
