Special delivery! Kane, Winks and Scarlett surprise local primary school students

Sun 26 June 2022, 14:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane, Harry Winks and Dane Scarlett surprised students from a local primary school last month, when they visited one of the Club’s Global Football Development programmes.

Thanks to Getir, the Club’s Official Training Wear Partner, year six students from Lea Valley Primary School were treated to a memorable training session where, alongside our players, they were put through their paces with a series of footballing drills, skills, and tactics.

During the session, the group had the opportunity to ask questions of their own to our players, including: who is the fastest in the team, what is their favourite memory playing football from when they were younger, and what is their best moment in a Spurs shirt?

Getir was also on hand throughout the day to provide refreshments and nutritious snacks to help keep the students energised.

Our Global Football Development coaches deliver world-class technical programmes, educational talks, workshops, and exercise classes around the world with the aim of keeping children physically active and promote a positive mental wellbeing. Our expert coaches showcase the authentic training methods developed within the Club’s Academy, helping young players to reach their full potential.

Speaking after the session, Harry Kane said: “It was great to be a part of this session with Getir and the Club’s Global Football Development team. As someone who came up through the Academy, I know first-hand the incredible work the coaches do, and it was brilliant to get involved with the next generation of young players.”

Danny Mitchell, Football Development Manager, said: “At Tottenham Hotspur, we pride ourselves on supporting individual development with young players and experiences like this help to inspire players of all levels to be the best version of themselves both on and off the pitch. Most importantly we look to develop aspiring players from both a grassroots and elite level to support their progression through our player development pathways.

In addition, it was great to have Getir supporting us in delivering these types of events to provide opportunities and experiences for young players to access world-class facilities such as our training centre.”

One of the participants commented: “Being surprised by not one but three Tottenham Hotspur players was absolutely incredible. As a Spurs fan, being able to meet and play football with them was a dream come true.”
